Laura’s best friend. She becomes involved with Laura’s secret boyfriend, James Hurley, shortly after Laura’s death. She conducts her own private investigation of Laura’s murder, employing the help of James and Madeleine. During this, she inadvertently causes the secret diary of Laura Palmer to surface and end up in the hands of Cooper and the Sheriff’s Dept.
